Resources
The hyperlinks to the right provide a starting point for most topics. They consist of:
A list of books or other references found in the BPS library and the CALL Number, as well as keywords that you may use for further searches using the Library catalogue.
Internet sites can generally be found by using key words summarising your particular area entered into an Australian Search Engine – make sure you have selected only Australia, and English language. A good Australian search engine to use is http://au.altavista.com/
Starting points for general book references are:
R994.03 AUS The Australian Encyclopedia (1983). Check Volume 12 (Index) for references
994 ONE 1000 Famous Australians
920 ONE 100 Famous Australians
994 POR Fifty Famous Australians
Each topic has a list of suggestions on the best way to approach searching for information. The resource list also has library keywords, a list of books available from the BPS library, and some URLs of websites that you may find useful to visit.
How useful the references listed will be to your assignment will depend on what you want to focus on.
