organising THEMES

There are six Organising Themes that shape the Program of Inquiry in each year level.

WHO WE ARE – Which is an exploration of our beliefs and values; of personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; of family and community; of rights and responsibilities; of what it means to be human.

WHERE WE ARE IN TIME AND PLACE – Which allows us to delve into personal, local and global history and geography; into homes and journeys; into discoveries and migration.

HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES – An exploration of ways we discover and express our nature, feelings, ideas, beliefs and values through language and the arts.

HOW THE WORLD WORKS – An inquiry into the physical and material world; of natural and man-made phenomena; of the world of science and technology

HOW WE ORGANISE OURSELVES – An exploration of human systems and communities; of the world of work, its value and impact

SHARING THE PLANET – Which looks at our rights and responsibilities as we strive to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; of communities and the relationships within and between them.

As you can see, the Program of Inquiry is structured to focus on a wide range of important issues with both local and global significance.

Literacy, Numeracy, The Arts, Science and the like are integrated or taught as separate lessons when necessary.
