curriculum

The curriculum at Blackfriars is broad and challenging.

In Senior Secondary a variety of full time courses of study provide entry to universities in Adelaide and throughout Australia, as well as other tertiary education providers, or, apprenticeships and the wider world of employment.

In Year 11 and 12, over 30 subjects are offered which enables students to pursue many and varied post-schooling careers. Many students choose from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Information Technology, English and History in order to quality for University Entry requirements. Other subjects such as Physical Education, Art, Mechanics, Drama, Music, Photography and Social Studies are selected for career-specific purposes as well as to assist in fulfilling entry requirements to tertiary education providers.

Whether students have an orientation for the Arts or the Physical Sciences, Blackfriars has courses of study that are externally credentialed and provide challenging and rewarding learning experiences.

In general terms, there are two start dates for those wishing to commence in Years 11 and 12 at Blackfriars Priory School. These dates are at the beginning of the year (30 January 2008) and at the beginning of Semester 2 (16 June 2008) after successfully completing a minimum of 20 weeks at the English Bridging Course (if required).

If the level of English required to enter Year 11 or 12 has not been attained, the student may need to commence at a lower year level at Blackfriars Priory School and their contract may need to be re-negotiated.
