Primary Arts Night 1.jpg

Primary School News

Image: The Primary Arts Night was a wonderful celebration of our students’ many artistic talents.

On Tuesday 6 June, all the Primary families gathered together in the gym for the annual Primary Arts Night.  This is an evening where we get to sit back and listen to Primary School students sing different songs they have been learning during class or as part of a choir, and we also get to see them perform if they have been learning an instrument. Around the outside of the gym, is the art work they have completed throughout the year. Congratulations to all the students and staff on a fantastic night, and a big thank you to all the families who came out and supported the boys on the evening.  It is truly wonderful to see how many talented artists and musicians we have in our community.

On Monday 5 June, the Reception to Year 4 classes had a visit from the RAA who conduct sessions in schools about road safety.  The boys learned about being a safe pedestrian and being a safe passenger on public transport. They all enjoyed these sessions and walking over the portable road brought in.  The Year 4 students also learned about how to ride their bikes safely in public.

The Year 1 classes had a visit from Wilbur Wildlife on Monday 5 June as well. This was part of the work they are doing on Living Things. The boys got to see and touch different animals such as stick insects, snails and lizards.  Below is a recount written by a Year 1 student.

On Monday, the year ones had an incursion from Wilber Wildlife. A man brought lots of animals in and his name was Kyle. First Kyle showed us a poisonous centipede and some dangerous snakes. One of the snakes had a black head. Then he showed us a parrot and some lizards. He let us pat the bearded dragon. It was funny when we dropped a mouse. Nagi almost stood on it. From Aleksander

On Tuesday 13 June there will be 8 boys from Year 3 -6 participating in the ICAS Writing test. The Spelling test scheduled for the Wednesday 14 June was changed to Thursday 8 June to avoid a clash with the Primary School photos.

On Wednesday 7 June the Year 4 - 6 students attended a music excursion to see the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and on Friday 9 June Receptions to Year 3 went.  They all loved going to see an orchestra playing and hearing all the different instruments as well. Thank you to the music teachers for organising these excursions.

Mrs Johanna West, one of our Year 2 teachers has been appointed as the Acting Primary Curriculum Coordinator for the remainder of the year.  Mrs West will now be working Monday to Friday; Monday to Wednesday in the classroom and Thursday and Friday in the office.  We congratulate Johanna on this appointment and I look forward to working with her in her new role.
