Middle Years

With more than 60 subjects, 15 co-curricular activities, camps at every year level, multiple cross-disciplinary projects, academic extension and learning enrichment programs, discover how the Middle Years at Blackfriars prepares your son for the 21st century.

At Blackfriars, your son will stand confidently with his peers as he learns about the importance of Prayer, Study, Community and Service in all aspects of school life.

The Blackfriars Middle Years program caters to the diverse needs of boys in this transition period. Our contemporary curriculum for Years 7 to 9 is based on the Australian Curriculum, allowing teachers to identify the needs of each student and create individual programs that encourage development. Students are motivated to strive for success through personal inquiry, discovery and self-direction.

The Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) policy allows students to select a personal device which best suits their learning style. This is used as a fully integrated learning tool across all curriculum areas.

The search for identity and meaning is paramount during the Middle Years of a boy’s schooling. Our Pastoral Care Program, Religious Education and year-level camps, along with other extra-curricular opportunities, provide each boy with an insight into their world and a clearer picture of their emerging identity.

Throughout the Middle Years at Blackfriars, boys also have opportunities for further learning and engagement through comprehensive electives and specialist programs and can immerse themselves in a full range of co-curricular activities.
