Co-curricular

Challenging students to achieve their personal best.

Blackfriars challenges boys to achieve their personal best whether in academic, artistic, athletic or vocational pursuit. Our diverse range of co-curricular activities includes sporting teams, music ensembles, visual and performing arts groups, social justice and environmental groups, as well as a variety of volunteer and student leadership opportunities.

Sports

As a member of the Sports Association for Adelaide Schools, Blackfriars competes against other schools in organised competitions in athletics, badminton, cricket, swimming, water polo, tennis, basketball, football, soccer, squash, table tennis and volleyball.

Facilities

On campus, Blackfriars has a well-equipped, modern gymnasium, which is the focus for many sporting activities, and a full-size soccer pitch.

Blackfriars is fortunate to be located a few minutes’ walk from the northern Adelaide parklands. Along Fitzroy Terrace lies Denise Norton Park / Pardipardinyilla (Park 2) where our tennis courts, football, cricket and soccer grounds are located. In the centre of this precinct stands the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, which is used by the school for competition and leisure activities.

A number of school teams also use the Propsect Oval precinct, Prospect Tennis Club and Charles Cane Reserve (Churchill Road) for a variety of sporting activities.
