Blackfriars Priory School is a Catholic school located in Adelaide, South Australia, conducted by the Dominican Friars of the Province of the Assumption. For over 50 years the school has provided an education program for boys from Year 3 to Year 12. The first class of Reception students began in 2005 and today, the school offers education from Reception through to Year 12. Blackfriars opened in 1953 with 45 students. Today, with a student population of nearly 1000 students, it has continued to thrive under the preaching and scholarship of the Dominican Order. The Dominican Order was founded in 1216 and from its very beginnings, the Friars became involved in education. The 'Dominican Tradition', built up over many centuries, is still a strong part of Blackfriars today, and seeks to pass on faith, values and culture which give students' lives meaning. As a Catholic School, our aim is to provide for all. Our reputation is of a school which caters for the needs of many, but never forgets the needs of the individual.
