Catholic Education South Australia has made a commitment to move Year 7 to secondary settings wherever possible in 2019. Currently, South Australia is the only state where Year 7's undertake their education in a primary setting.
More information about the move can be found on the fact sheets below and at the Catholic Education SA website >
Blackfriars Priory School has over 60 years' experience in working with Year 7 students and their families as an integral part of our Reception to Year 12 community.
We understand the significant headstart to secondary education that transition at Year 7 provides.
Teaching the Year 7 curriculum in a secondary setting gives students access to the same broad range of specialist teachers and facilities as those in Year 8 and above. See the range of Year 7 + 8 subjects offered in our latest Learning Area Overview.2018 Learning Area Overview
A secondary environment offers flexibility and academic rigour that can help students to be challenged intellectually.
Adolescents thrive in an environment that encourages independence and supports their social and emotional needs.
Year 7 + 8 students have the opportunity to participate in the school's wide range of sports and co-curricular activities, including our specialist Football (Soccer) program.
Year 7 + 8 students at Blackfriars are members of our unique House structre which groups boys from Year 7 to Year 12 in the same pastoral care / home group. This allows students to form relationships and support networks with boys from outside their own year level.
Enroments are currently being accepted for Year 7 and Year 8, 2020, with limited places still available at both headstart year levels for 2019.
