art, design & technologyThe Art Design and Technology faculty, aims to develop ‘hands on’ or kinesthetic skills and provide ‘visual’ learning opportunities through the completion of a wide variety of tasks. Learning tasks that incorporate such methodologies have been shown to be particularly beneficial for boys. As students move into the senior years, they are encouraged to develop higher order thinking skills and techniques. YEARS 7, 8 & 9At Year 7, 8 and 9, our program involves the exploration of principles and concepts relating to creativity and idea development. Students are encouraged to evaluate and utilize a range of materials through the development of technological skills. Students are required to develop a regard for aesthetics and the relationship between form and function through practical problem solving using the design process. An appreciation of line, shape, value, colour and texture is also included to allow students to communicate information and express their ideas through everyday living experiences. YEAR 10At Year 10, students can select from a wide range of 1 or 2 unit courses including Art, Ceramics, Design, Printmaking, Technical Graphics or Timber Technology. All course assessments involve a series of practical and theoretical assignments. SENIOR STUDIESStage 1 offers students the opportunity to pursue areas
of special interest at a deeper level. Courses offered include Art,
Design, Furniture Construction, Restoration and Heritage, Photography and
Energy Technology. All courses require students to complete a theory
component. ART GALLERY
