Blackfriars Priory School Scholarships for 2019:

St Albert the Great Academic Scholarship

Blackfriars Priory School is running the ACER Scholarship program to award a St Albert the Great Academic Scholarship to a student commencing in Year 8 in 2019. This academic scholarship offers a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the rest of a boy’s education at Blackfriars Priory School, subject to terms and conditions being met. The scholarship is awarded based on the results of the ACEP (Australian Cooperative Entry Program) tests. The scholarship will be awarded by the Principal upon review of the ACEP test results. The criteria for these scholarships include excellence in literacy and/or numeracy.

A registration fee of $110 is applicable for each school your son would like to be considered for a scholarship. Registrations close on Thursday 18 January 2018.

Organ Scholarship (Primary and Middle Years)

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to the remission of weekly organ lessons with a private tutor for a period of one year (to be reviewed at the end of 2018 and extended if appropriate). The Scholarship is up to the value of $840 (in tuition fees) per year.

Eligibility Requirements:

The Scholarship is open to current students in Primary School or Middle School at Blackfriars Priory School in 2018.

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s:

  • Proven capacity or potential in music,
  • Ability to play the piano (must be currently taking lessons in piano),
  • Commitment to enriching the arts culture of the School by being involved in music making and performance opportunities, and
  • Availability to play at liturgies and other events held in St Albert’s Chapel, Blackfriars Priory School.

Music Scholarship (Years 7 and 8)

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to full remission of music tuition fees with a private tutor, instrument hire, music resources and music textbook fees for a period of two years. The Scholarship is up to the value of $2,500.

Eligibility Requirements:

The Scholarship is open to both new and current students entering Year 7 or Year 8 at Blackfriars Priory School in 2018.

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship is awarded based on the Applicant’s:

  • Performance at the practical audition,
  • Proven capacity or potential in music,
  • Ability to manage all academic aspects of music and school commitments, and
  • Commitment to enriching the arts culture of the School by being involved in music making and performance opportunities.

Dac Lo Scholarship (Years 7 and 8)

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the remainder of their schooling at Blackfriars Priory School.

Eligibility Requirements:

The Scholarship is open to both new and current students entering Year 7 or 8 at Blackfriars Priory School in 2018. Applicants must be enrolled and currently studying at Dac Lo Vietnamese Language School.

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s:

  • Outstanding academic ability and behaviour at School,
  • Commitment to maintaining the Vietnamese language and preserving Vietnamese culture,
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities, and
  • Financial need (and/or that of his parents/guardians).

Br Patrick Hynes OP Primary Scholarship (Year 6)

The Scholarship is to the value of $1,500. It will be awarded to the successful candidate during the first term of their Year 6 education at Blackfriars Priory School in 2018.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled at Blackfriars Priory School and be attending the School for their Year 5 education in 2017.

Selection Criteria:

In appreciation of Dominican Br Patrick Hynes OP, the Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s commitment to representing the Four Pillars of Dominican Life: Prayer, Study, Community and Service.

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to a 50% reduction in tuition fees for the year in which Scholarship is awarded. 

Eligibility Requirements:

The Scholarship is open to both new and current students entering Years 7 to 10 at Blackfriars Priory School in 2018.

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s:

  • Outstanding academic ability,
  • Commitment to co-curricular activities, and
  • Dedication to the ideals and values of Blackfriars Priory School.

Mr John Lewis Scholarship (Year 11)

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to one year's full tuition at Year 11 plus a grant to the value of $500 for living expenses.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled at Blackfriars Priory School and be attending the School for their Year 10 education in 2017.

Selection Criteria:

In appreciation of the history of Blackfriars Priory School and it core values, the Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s:

  • Commitment to exemplifying the Four Pillars of Dominican Life: Prayer, Study, Community and Service.
  • Efforts to embrace a spirit of generosity, and
  • Financial need (and/or that of his parents/guardians).

Recipients of the Scholarship are entitled to one year's full tuition at Year 12 plus a grant to the value of $500 for living expenses.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled at Blackfriars Priory School and be attending the School for their Year 11 education in 2017.

Selection Criteria:

In appreciation of Dominican Fr John Neill OP, the Scholarship is awarded based on the applicant's:

  • Commitment to exemplifying the Four Pillars of Dominican Life: Prayer, Study, Community and Service.
  • Commitment to pursuing their studies with the mind of Christ, and
  • Financial need (and/or that of his parents/guardians).
