years 7 - 10The curriculum emphasis of the early secondary years of Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 is on the core subjects: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Personal Development, History and Geography (Studies of Society & Environment). In Years 7, 8 and 9, some subjects are also made compulsory; namely, Physical Education, a foreign Language, a performing arts subject and Art & Design. Information Technology is a compulsory component of the core subject Society & Environment. In Year 7 and 8, students are taught a number of their core subjects by the same teacher. This teacher is known as the Key Teacher and assists in the Pastoral care of the student. Camps are held for each Year 8 class at the beginning of the year to allow students to get to know each other. At Year 9 students prepare and plan for an overnight camp as part of the Outdoor Education program, whilst Year 10 students participate in an Activities Week which offer students opportunities in a range of recreational and outdoor trips. All subjects expose students to the use of Information Technology and computers in their course content and learning activities. The Adaptive Education department provides assistance to students who are experiencing difficulty with their learning. At Year 10, some students undertake Vocational Education and Training (VET) units, in the areas such as Hospitality, Architectural Drawing, Retail, and Viticulture. VET enables students to experience training in a career pathway, and obtain accreditation for National Units of Competency. The following table shows the Year 7-10 Curriculum.
