Our Vision

Blackfriars Priory School is a Catholic Dominican school for boys which promotes the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development of each member of the school community. It aims, in co-operation with parents, to engage students in an educational experience within the context of a Christian community which is fulfilling and rewarding.

Blackfriars Priory School therefore aims to:

• Foster the spiritual lives of students, staff and families and to share an experience and knowledge of the Catholic faith within the Dominican tradition;

• Provide an education for boys that meets their specific needs while preparing them to participate in an ever changing world;

• Engender in students a love of learning and a desire to reach their full potential;

• Advance the self esteem and integrity of the individual within the context of a caring school community;

• Promote an ethic of service to the community and cultivate a sense of democracy, social justice and environmental awareness;

• Ensure school policies reflect a genuine solidarity with the poor and disadvantaged;

• Nurture an understanding of the importance of personal responsibility and self discipline in the development of healthy and life giving relationships.

The school strives to highlight the importance of the search for truth or Veritas, the Dominican motto, which promotes a view of knowledge that has its origin and intent centred in a search for God in our daily lives.
